Your Children's Sight Matters!
August is National Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month. And as the end of summer is approaching, back-to-school time will soon be at the top of many parents’ minds. One of the most important ways to ensure that your child has a successful school year is to make your child’s sight a priority. The inability to see clearly affects not only the academic performance of the child, but also athletics and self-esteem. A good practice is to have your children’s eyes examined regularly starting from the age of three.

TIPS TO KEEP YOUR CHILD'S EYES HEALTHY AND SAFE

Get Regular Eye Exams
Eye exams aren’t just for adults. They are very important as they can help infants and toddlers to catch any early sight problems. The doctor can check that your child can properly follow objects as well as how perfect their eye alignment is.  A family history of eye problems can also increase the risk of your child possible developing vision problems, so it is a good idea to get their eyes checked out.

Avoid Too Much Sun Exposure
Too much sun can actually harm the eyes. Young children’s eyes are rather sensitive to UV light. Ensure that your children’s eyes are well sheltered from the sun and that they are not staring directly into it. Making your child wear sunglasses will shield them from the sun’s harmful rays.

Feed Their Vision
Keeping your child’s eyes healthy can be done by eating a well-balanced meal so, don’t forget to add fruits and vegetables to your child’s diet.

Avoid Staring at Screens For Too Long
Modern technology nowadays use blue light-emitting screens. Staring at these devices at night, can contribute to the damage to your child’s eyes. To avoid such instances, limit your child’s use of these gadgets especially at night and use an anti-glare screen wherever possible.

Get Enough Sleep
A restful sleep refreshes not just the body but also the eyes. Ensuring that your child sleeps enough keeps your child’s eyes’ in good health.
