For Members:
What is Physiotherapy?
- Physiotherapy (physical therapy) is the assessment and treatment of the human body by physical or mechanical means, for the purpose of obtaining, maintaining or restoring a function(s) that has been impaired by injury or age-related deterioration.
- The therapy aims to improve joint and muscle function (e.g., range of motion, strength) and thus improve the patient’s ability to stand, balance, walk, and climb stairs.
- This therapy is provided by means of Physical agents such as LASER, Ultrasound waves, Electric waves, Hot and Cold. Along with physical modalities specialized therapeutic exercises such as mobilization/manipulation of joint and soft tissue, Mayo-fascial release etc. are provided.
- Physiotherapy is provided by specially trained and regulated practitioners called physiotherapists.
Types of Physiotherapies
- Electrotherapy Section: Extracorporeal Shock wave, LASER, Magnetic therapy, TENS, interferential, medium frequency currents, ultrasound, cervical and lumbar traction, wax bath etc. Magnetic Chair therapy and Pelvic Floor Biofeedback for Rehabilitation of patient having urinary incontinence, uterine prolapse & pelvic floor weakness.
- Kinesiotherapy: To improve patient’s strength, range of motion, general exercise and rehabilitation of Neurological and Musculoskeletal cases. Isokinetic assessment and training is done for functional diagnosis and therapy.
- Hydrotherapy: A pool comes with a temperature control for the water and there is a Hubbard tank for pediatric cases.
- Chest Physiotherapy: To improve respiratory functions in patients have breathing difficulty, excessive accumulation of chest secretion.
- Pediatric Rehabilitation: A comprehensive pediatric physical therapy outpatient care focus on many childhood disorders such as Cerebral Palsy, Down’s Syndrome, Muscular Dystrophy, Traumatic Brain Injury, Torticollis, Brachial Plexus injuries, Orthopaedic injuries and Sensory processing disorders. We use advanced quality therapeutic techniques to focus on development training and/or rehabilitation services for the infants to adolescents through comprehensive evaluations based on the child’s needs and the concerns of their parents and Physicians.
Depending on the reason for treatment, the benefits of physical therapy include:
- Pain management with reduced need for opioids.
- Avoiding surgery.
- Improved mobility and movement.
- Recovery from injury or trauma.
- Recovery from stroke or paralysis.
- Fall prevention.
- Improved balance.
- Management of age-related medical problems.
