Significant reduction in in-person medical consultations following use of new digital health platform from Allianz Partners

Lumi ecosystem reaches over one million users during its initial launch phase, providing customers with one seamless digital health journey.

Allianz Partners has reported a significant reduction in in-person medical consultations among customers using their new Lumi digital health ecosystem. The Lumi ecosystem provides a platform that aims to simplify access to health care for customers on a global scale, by connecting them to reliable, verified health guidance and advice. It allows users to manage their personalized health journey – from prevention to diagnosis and prescription delivery – all in one place, from the comfort of their home or office.

The ecosystem is being accessed by over one million users so far since its initial launch phase, across selected portfolios in the Middle East over the past 12 months. Following that success, Lumi will be rolled out globally in the coming months. Allianz Partners sources all services and service providers – to ensure quality and reliability – and connects them together, to deliver one holistic journey for customers.

The Lumi ecosystem will ultimately be available to all Allianz Partners end customers and the end customers of their partners, allowing them to access a range of services, including:

  • Symptom checker
  • Doctor chat
  • Teleconsultation
  • Medical Provider Finder
  • Appointment booking
  • Medication delivery
  • Second medical opinion
  • Health insurance policy and claims management

Speaking about the ecosystem, Andrej Mekionis, Head of Product Marketing and Innovation, Health & Utilities, said:

“The Lumi ecosystem was developed in direct response to customer demand. We know that the first port of call for many people with health-related queries is to use online search engines. However, the reliability of some of the information there is questionable, as most results are driven by SEO, advertising policies, regional preferences, cookies and many other factors. We recognized the need for customers to be able to access reliable, trustworthy health information and advice, easily.

The Symptom Checker and Medical Provider Finder services were developed specifically with this in mind. Symptom Checker is a fully licensed Infermedica medical device*. While the Medical Provider Finder – which has been used over 900,000 times over the past 12 months – is a directory of validated, quality medical providers that are part of the extensive Allianz Partners Providers network, including hospitals, clinics and doctors.

The response to the initial rollout phase has been overwhelmingly positive, with over one million users to date and growing. The fact that use of Lumi services has led to a reduction in in-person medical consultations has resulted in significant efficiencies for end customers. For example, 70% of those who used Doctor Chat have opted not to visit the doctor in person, while 90% of teleconsultation cases have been fully resolved online. For end customers, this means minimum disruption to their day, while still being able to access quality health services from the comfort of their home / office.”

Lumi digital health services can be accessed in a number of ways:

  • Lumi mobile app: End users can download the app via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store and register an account, once it’s confirmed as available for their portfolio and region**. The app allows users to manage their insurance policy and digital health services in one place. Depending on their cover, this could include accessing their insurance e-card; checking symptoms; finding a medical provider; chatting with or calling a certified doctor; arranging an e-prescription; submitting a medical claim and checking its status.
  • Lumi widget: This gives access to digital health services via a partner’s digital assets. It can easily be integrated with any mobile app or website, where the end user will have immediate access to Symptom Checker, Dr. Chat, Teleconsultation and Medical Provider Finder.
  • Lumi Chat Bot: This AI technology gives end users options in how they want to access their insurance policy data or digital health services. They’ll be able choose their preferred communication platform such as WhatsApp, Messenger etc.

At present, Lumi provides access to over 4,000 medical providers globally, including hospitals, doctors, teleconsultation providers and pharmacies. Additional services will be available through the ecosystem later this year, with plans to expand them further over the coming years. The Lumi ecosystem is part of the wider Allianz Partners global digital platform strategy ‘allyz’, which simplifies customer journeys across all lines of business.
